Do you have a way to wash your handwraps without getting them tangled up?

Our course on winning any street fight is out! Learn how to win street fights using one Muay Thai technique! Check it out here! If you want to use a washing machine, your handwraps will always get tangled. The good news is them getting tangled isn’t the real problem; getting them tangled with everything else in the wash IS. There are two techniques that work best to mitigate this. The first method is to use a mesh lingerie bag. (If you’re a woman then here is one of your great advantages over men in Muay Thai) Place your handwraps in the lingerie bag and they’ll only tangle with each other, not with the rest of your wash. The second method is to place your handwraps inside of socks. (One handwrap per sock.) The downside of method two is that your handwraps will still eventually come out of the sock and tangle, but they won’t tangle half as much since they’ll be inside the sock for a good portion of the wash. The longer the sock the longer the wrap will stay in and the less it will be tangled when it eventually gets...
How practical is crosstraining my muay thai with budo taijutsu and sport sambo? (For cage and self defense)

How practical is crosstraining my muay thai with budo taijutsu and sport sambo? (For cage and self defense)

Our course on winning any street fight is out! Learn how to win street fights using one Muay Thai technique! Check it out here! Muay Thai is a very complete striking art. It has strikes from all ranges (including clinching range) and it has a few takedowns as well. The rule set does limit the takedowns and completely eliminates ground fighting so supplementing it with arts that do have these elements is an excellent idea for free fighting (self defense) or MMA. One thing to keep in mind when choosing supplementary arts though is what makes Muay Thai effective in the first place: the fact that it is a combat sport. The fact that everything taught is done in competition at a high level means only what works still exists in Muay Thai. Arts like Budo Taijutsu have their merits, but are not combat sports, so techniques cannot be refined through real application between skilled practitioners because nothing beyond controlled sparring happens. For this reason arts like Sambo, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tend to work the best to supplement Muay Thai with additional takedowns and ground fighting when the goal is maximum efficiency in free fighting or...

What do the arm bands in muay thai mean?

Our course on winning any street fight is out! Learn how to win street fights using one Muay Thai technique! Check it out here! Muay Thai arm bands are called prajied and they are worn for luck and protection.  Specifics on they what they are meant to bestow on the wearer vary depending on how they have been blessed/prayed over.  (Some prayers ask for knockout power, some for defense, some for speed, etc.)  For this reason arm bands are not truly prajied and have no meaning unless they have been taken to a monk to be prayed...
Why do many good Thai fighters mainly fight foreigners?

Why do many good Thai fighters mainly fight foreigners?

Our course on winning any street fight is out! Learn how to win street fights using one Muay Thai technique! Check it out here! This question actually makes a false assumption.  It’s the most “famous” Thai fighters that usually fight foreigners. The truth is the best Thai fighters ARE fighting other Thais.  The best Thai fighters are also around 17-18 yrs old with the most competitive weight class in Thailand being 135lbs.  (Where most foreigners don’t play.)  Once an extremely good fighter gets famous and outside of their “prime” (usually around 23-27) and if they’re considered as marketable to an international audience then they’re put in fights mainly against international competition on a world stage at a higher weight...
How do I improve my jump rope game for boxing/muay thai?

How do I improve my jump rope game for boxing/muay thai?

Our course on winning any street fight is out! Learn how to win street fights using one Muay Thai technique! Check it out here! Jump rope for boxing and Muay Thai are entirely different.  In boxing they do the kind of jump rope work that most people think about:  The Floyd Mayweather skills with fancy turns, squats, double jumps, and criss-crosses.  It’s done at a very fast pace to make boxers lighter on their feet and more nimble.  In Muay Thai the real way to skip rope is with a giant plastic hose about 3/4″ thick in diameter that has jump rope handles.  It’s heavy and very painful if it hits your toes.  Furthermore in Muay Thai skipping rope is never for less than 30 minutes. Skipping rope that heavy, for that long is done for the purpose of building up the shoulder muscles and calf muscles for stronger kicks and punching.  If Muay Thai is your sport then there aren’t any fancy jump rope skills and tricks that are necessary.  You just have to pick up that giant rope and get to work every...
What is training Muay Thai in Thailand like?

What is training Muay Thai in Thailand like?

Our course on winning any street fight is out! Learn how to win street fights using one Muay Thai technique! Check it out here! There are several different types of training experiences you can get in Thailand as a non-Thai.  To really understand how it works you have to see it from the vantage point of the gyms which have essentially two ways to make money: 1.) off of the Thai fighters 2.) off of the foreigners.  For their fighters Gyms have to pay for 2 meals a day for each fighter, water, electricity, more land for fighter lodging at the gym, wages for a “house mother” who does all the washing cleaning and cooking, and wages for all the pad holders and trainers.  For this reason the Thai fighters fight very often and at least half of their purses or prize money goes to the gym.  The gym gets actually it’s cut first and the gym then pays the fighter afterwards so it’s hard to know exactly what the gym’s cut is most of the time. All these boys train at the same time so that they can spar and clinch with each other and get very sharp.  The more they win, the more they get paid and the more the gym gets paid.  For this reason the best boys in the gym train with each other to get better and foreigners are never allowed to train with them when they have fights coming up.  Foreigners on the other hand, come to Thailand for several different reasons.  Some come just for the experience of trying out Muay...
