“Really, really anytime you’re dropping your speed is because you’re loading up the punches, cause you’re trying to put more into it… so that’s why we did the drill this way, where you do a combination but you put emphasis on one. That way, you’re not loading up on one because you’re thinking about only one shot.
You’re still letting your body move fluid between punch to punch, and then just putting emphasis on those details to give you that extra power on that specific punch you are working on enhancing. So, there’s no way to hit hard without actually letting your arm go fast.
So your hand is going fast, if you’re putting power into it, your hand is going fast even the slowest guy in the world… his hand is actually traveling fast when it hits him, though what’s making him slow is everything he does before he throws the punch. Yeah, so if you can take away that part then you get speed and power at the same time.”
